Polygon
Polygon is a proof-of-stake protocol and one of the largest projects within the crypto industry, originally designed to make transactions on the Ethereum blockchain more energy efficient, faster and more affordable than on the mainnet. It is a layer 2 or “sidechain” scaling solution that runs alongside the Ethereum blockchain and is able to achieve a speed of 7,200 transactions per second (TPS) which is a significant jump when compared to the 15 TPS achieved by the Ethereum blockchain when used directly.
